The Alex Tumang Charity Game organized by Sunday Hoops in conjunction with the newly formed nonprofit organization Fil-Can Hoops and Beyond Cochrane offered plenty of excitement while raising funds for youth programs in Philippines.

The $405 raised at the Sept. 14 charity game is being used to buy basketballs for youth in the Philippines by Fil-Can (Filipino-Canadian) Hoops and Beyond Cochrane. The organization was recently registered a new nonprofit organization with the goal of promoting health, camaraderie and support to the community.

Mike Bautista says the appearance of well-known Filipino actor/comedian Kuya Jobert added to the buzz of the evening.

Popular Filipino comedian Kuya Jobert made an appearance at the charity event.

"He's now based out of Calgary, and he brought a lot of energy and fun to the evening," says Bautista.

Two lucky participants had chance to win and choose their beneficiary in the Philippines.

Bench Bence was named MVP in the open category.

Bautista says they are currently organizing a two-day basketball camp this fall to teach the basics of basketball to Cochrane youth.
