A Winnipeg male is facing a lengthy list of charges following a traffic stop in the early hours of Tuesday morning. 

At approximately 12:30 a.m. on Sept. 17, Central District General Patrol officers observed a 2020 Chevrolet Equinox travelling erratically southbound on Isabel Street. A traffic stop was initiated near Sherbrook Street and Ross Avenue for traffic enforcement and to verify valid license and registration.

The male driver was subsequently arrested after it was determined that he did not have a valid driver's license. The accused was searched, and a loaded 9mm handgun was located concealed in his waistband. The search also revealed the accused had approximately six grams of cocaine with an estimated street value of $600, a quantity of Percocet with an estimated street value of $260, and approximately $1,600 in Canadian currency on his person.

Several hundred rounds of various ammunition and edge weapons were found after officers searched the vehicle. 

A 21-year-old male from Winnipeg has been charged with the following:

  • Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon
  • Transport Firearm, Ammunition, Prohibited Weapon or Device in a Careless Manner
  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing Serial Number has been Tampered With
  • Carry Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition
  • Possession of a Weapon
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

He was detained in custody.
