Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the southeast, centered around the Estevan and Hitchcock areas.

In their release, Environment Canada states that the approaching storms are capable of producing strong gusts of wind, heavy amounts of rain, and even large hail.

Some severe thunderstorms that occurred in the southern parts of the province this morning will disappear later in the day.

In the meantime, a strong storm near the US border will develop late in the afternoon or early into the evening, moving northwards as time goes on.

Environment Canada reminds people that strong winds, large hail, and heavy, sudden downpours should be watched for with people needing to stay inside if a storm is occurring.
