Since 1792, the Old Farmer’s Almanac has been one of the most trusted sources of information on several subjects, especially weather forecasting.

The Canadian edition of the Old Farmer’s Almanac is now on bookshelves, and it's forecasting a cold, snowy winter for central Saskatchewan.

Carol Connare, from the Old Farmer’s Almanac says they use the same formula to calculate the forecast as founder Robert Bailey Thomas, studying solar activity, astronomy cycles, and weather patterns.

According to the Almanac's findings, Connare says there will be plenty of snow activity in Saskatchewan throughout the winter.

“We’re calling, firstly, for the snowiest times to mid- to late-November to begin with,” Connare continued. “And then snowy ... early and late December, early January, mid-February, and early March. That’s what we’re saying is the snowstorm time.

While central Saskatchewan is forecasted to have a cold and snowy winter, it’s predicted the southern part of the province will be cool and wet, while the northern section of Saskatchewan will be cold and dry.

With the final days of the summer of 2024 ticking down, the almanac predicts next year’s will be cooler than normal with plenty of moisture according to Connare. She added the spring will be warmer than usual.
