Morden Mayor Nancy Penner is sharing with city residents the 50 km/h speed reduction zone as you enter the city on P-R 4-32 is now further north than previously with the opening of Ecole Discovery Trails. She made the comment for In the Mayor's Chair which you can listen to, below.

"the 50 km zone now begin at Sunset Drive, which considerably slows traffic down as you come in to the city," she explained. "With the crosswalk at Parkhill Drive, which is the street that connects to Ecole Discovery Trails, this is such a welcome safety measure, because Parkhill Drive is the main feeder to the new K to 8 school."

The extension of the speed reduction zone is in addition to several other pedestrian improvements in the area including a new three-way stop at the corner of Gilmour and 19th Streets, a new sidewalk on Gilmour by Lions Park and two new crosswalks on Parkhill Drive and the other on Gilmour.

Meanwhile, your next opportunity to meet with Morden City Council is coming up October 1st, and it will be happening at a new time.

"Council feels the time change from 5 to 7pm allows those that are working to stop by and have a chat on their way home from work, or it still allows time to stop by right after you've had your supper," she said. "Please stop by and let us know if you have any issues you want to discuss with council, or bring something to our attention."
