Sylvan Lake Gulls head coach Jason Chatwood has been named the Western Canadian Baseball League's Coach of the Year after leading his team to a regular-season wins record.

The Gulls finished the season with a 44-12 record and a President's Trophy, finishing first overall in the WCBL regular season standings in 2024.

Chatwood, who hails from Innisfail, has been the Gulls' head coach since the team entered the league in 2021. His regular season record over that time is 143-65. Sylvan Lake has advanced past the first round of the postseason each of the past three years.

Chatwood grew up in central Alberta playing minor baseball in Innisfail and Red Deer.

The WCBL Coach of the Year Award is voted on by coaches from across the league.
