Homemade pies, turkey, gravy and all the Thanksgiving fixings are coming to a community hall near you.

The 15th annual Davisburg Turkey Supper is scheduled for the Sunday before Thanksgiving on October 6th, from 1 to 4 p.m.

Volunteer Alandra Corrigan says they expect hundreds of people for the incredibly popular fundraiser.

"We're a small community hall located out in Foothills County and the event started as our members would take home turkeys and make them and the whole community would make supper, but it's grown significantly since then.  We have Hansel and Gretel Catering, and they do the turkeys for us and then our volunteers make about 300 pies. Everybody gets a slice of pie with supper but then you can buy pies to take home as well. We have live music, a silent auction, a 50/50 and it's really just an opportunity for us as a community to come together, see our neighbours and have fun and celebrate Thanksgiving.  But then also bring in the larger community and show what Davisburg is all about."

Corrigan says it's their biggest fundraiser of the year "This is the fundraiser that allows us to subsidize and run things like our sports program and keep up our hall maintenance and then do those social events for our membership.

And Corrigan adds, many come specifically for homemade pies.

"We have apple, mixed berry, pumpkin, pecan and then sour cream-raisin. You either love it or hate it but a lot of people really, really love it."

Tickets are $30 for adults, $15 for youth from 7-11 and kids 6 and under eat free but they do ask everyone to register online so they know how many to expect.

Typically, 700 hundred people take part so get your tickets early.

The community is just north of Okotoks in Foothills County.
