A new dog show in High River this weekend will help raise funds for an animal rescue.
The organizer and emcee of the dog show, Bethany Willoughby, says this dog show will help raise money for a local animal rescue foundation.
"The event is planned to get the community involved and be able to interact with one another, do some fun with their pets. But also allow for an opportunity to raise some money for the Heaven Can Wait Animal Rescue Foundation," Willoughby explains.
Willoughby adds that this isn't like a typical dog show that can be watched on TV.
"It's more categorized as a fun dog show. Categories that are going to be there are fastest dog, the waggiest tail, the coolest trick, the cutest outfit, looks most like the owner, and most talkative on command. They are all just, kind of, almost silly categories or simple categories, just to be more open so that dogs of all types of activity levels and breeds can be able to be involved in it. Because I know not everyone trains their dogs to do cool tricks."
Registration is still open if anyone wants to enter their dog into the competition.
They just ask that any dog that is registered is not going to be aggressive with any of the other dogs.
There will be prizes for the dogs who win the top spot.
There is a $15 entry fee that will be donated to Heaven Can Wait Animal Rescue Foundation.
