The Weyburn Agricultural Society is getting prepared to host their annual Fall Craft & Trade Show on September 28th. Located at the Weyburn Ag Exhibition Hall, a fairly new event that according to Weyburn Agricultural Society’s social media manager Brandie Fisher has exploded in popularity.
“Last year we had an opening in the exhibition hall during our fair days, so we decided to have a trade show. I think we only had a couple weeks to plan for and we had 11 tables. That started us out and then people really liked that. So, we made that a part of this year's fair days and we had 31 tables, and a lot of those tables said that they would come back if we had another one. We're probably going to have up to 50 tables.”
Happening from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m, the event will contain over 40 vendors with something for everyone including clothing, jewelry, crafts, gifts, and food. With Christmas only a couple months away, it’s the perfect time to join the show and cross some items off the Christmas list.
Admission only costs $5 for those 18 years of age or older and those under 18 get in free. All of the money from the event goes towards repairs that were done on the Exhibition Hall, which Fisher states, was quite costly.
“This spring, we needed to do some mortar work and then of course after that you have to paint the building and replace the soffit and fascia. It was a upwards of $100,000 repair on the Exhibition Hall so we’re just raising funds to recover what our non-profit had to put into that. We want to keep it safe because a lot of people use that building for weddings and funerals and shows, and so we just want it safe and accessible for everybody.”
More information on the event, the vendors attending, and how to register to become a vendor can be found either on the Weyburn Agricultural Society’s website or their Facebook page.
