George Andrew Kovacs
Husband, Father, Grandpa, Great Grandpa (Pa Pa)
January 30, 1936 – September 17, 2024
Born on January 30, 1936 on a cold winter’s day to Mike and Mary Kovacs Sr. on July 12, 1962. George married Helen (Schneider) after a year of dancing and spending time fishing at the lake. They built their own home on a farm 12 miles west of St. Brieux, raising their family, Stanley, Gwendolen and Melanie. George and Helen resided there for almost 55 years.
As a young man, George farmed and worked for his dads’ sawmill. On his own land, he continued to farm for many years and with his passion for farm equipment, he dedicated himself for over 25 years to Bourgault Industries.
Through the years, he enjoyed the outdoors, his love of hunting, and fishing with his children and grandchildren. A passion not only for nature was handed down to each generation, but also of a good competitive card game.
His legacy of love will continue with his wife, Helen, son Stanley (Deanne), Colby (Sheena), Breanna, Aryanna; his daughter Gwendolen, Brett (Shelby), Bridgette (Josh†); and daughter Melanie (Shane), Avery, Isaac; and great grandchildren Grayson, Kalliope, and Hayden.
A Private Graveside Service was held at St. Philip the Apostle Cemetery in the District of Little Moose. Memorial donations in memory of George can be made to the ALS Society of Saskatchewan.
