Additional modulars are coming to Cochrane to relieve overcrowding at two schools but won't be operational until the next school year.

Today, school board trustees assigned three modulars to Fireside School and two to the Cochrane Christian Academy. They are expected to be ready for use at the beginning of the 2025-26 school year.

On July 23, it was announced RVS would be receiving 12 new modular classrooms and funding to relocate 12 others from Indus and Langdon.

The new modulars are among the 100 being constructed by province. In making the announcement, Education minister Demetrious Nicolaides said some would arrive at schools as early as September and the balance would be delivered by the end of December.

The other modulars have been assigned to schools in Airdrie, Springbank, Chestermere and Crossfield.

The locations selected were based upon where they are needed most. RVS administration also took into consider previously approved modulars by the government and the Balancing Airdrie Students Spaces decision.
