In a display of skill and dedication, four young athletes from Rockyview Rage lacrosse made their mark at the recent Prairie Cup tournament in Regina, SK.

Garrett Shillington, Hudson Hanley, Kaiden Dostie, from Cochrane, and Lachlan Martin, from Airdrie, were selected to represent Team Alberta South U13 on a 20-player roster.

The July 19-21 tournament saw teams from across the Prairies compete fiercely. Despite tough competition from Team Saskatchewan, Team Manitoba, and Team Alberta North, the Team Alberta South U13 team secured an impressive third-place finish.

These players showed incredible dedication and commitment, says Jacqueline Mackenize.

"It's not just about their skill on the field, but also their teamwork and sportsmanship."

Local coach Kevin Dostie was also found on the bench for both the U13 coed and U17 coed teams during the tournament, offering his time and sharing his knowledge of the game.

Leading up to the tournament, the players underwent rigorous training throughout July in Calgary, aiming for peak performance at the Prairie Cup. Their success underscores the growing talent within the Rockyview Rage and the broader lacrosse community in Cochrane and Airdrie.

"We are immensely proud of Garrett, Hudson, Kaiden, and Lachlan. Their achievements reflect not only their individual abilities but also the strong support they receive from their families, coaches, and the entire community."

The Rocky View Rage draws from a large rural area which includes both of these major centres.
