A Christian media ministry is creating even more gospel-focused content for people in Winnipeg and around the world.
Square One World Media, based out of Winnipeg, Man., focuses on producing Christ-centered media through radio, television, and the internet. They currently produce this media in seven different languages including English, Low German, Ukrainian, Russian, Spanish, Persian, and Arabic.
The staff at Square One are currently partaking in 40 days of thanksgiving and prayer.
"This year [the praying] started with a financial situation and at the same time, we see that there are a lot of challenges around the world," says Shoaib Ebadi, the President and Executive Director of Square One World Media. "In these next 40 days we thank God for His provision, His faithfulness, and for His grace in our ministry. Also we pray for the challenges that exist around the world."
This includes the war in Ukraine with the Russian invasion. They are praying for Central America with so much violence playing a part in the economy. They are praying for peace among the people in Israel and Palestine. They are also focusing on the prosecution of Afghanistan women who face so many restrictions, including not being able to speak in public.
"We have a children's program for Russian children. Recently Russia banned YouTube and this was our main stream there. We are asking the Lord to open another door there. We call on the Lord as a ministry, that He will help us continue what we are doing and help us and our partners around the world."
On Tuesday, Oct. 22, Square One is hosting a coffee in the park during the evening for the public to come and hear what is happening.
"We are doing a coffee night in Assiniboine Park. There will be stories of what we do at Square One. We tell stories of Jesus and stories of people who believe in Jesus, and give their life to Jesus. This year we started three new programs. Dana Rogalsky has a new program called Beauty for Ashes, designed to help people with the daily challenges of life. For the first time in the history of Square One World Media we started producing Bible-based programs for Indigenous people. We started last year, Come Sit with Me with Howard Jolly and this year, Courageous Heart, that focuses on Indigenous women with Virginia Spence."
The event is free to the public ages 16 and up, and will happen from 7pm-8:30pm at the Pavilion in Assiniboine Park.
