For the fifth year in a row, people will have the opportunity to purchase an RCMP horse.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police have bred their own Hanoverian horses to be used as part of the police force for over 80 years, and there are several up for auction.
On top of performing various functions, such as Royal Family escorts and parades, these horses are used as part of the RCMP Musical Ride, which helps to raise money for local charities and non-profit groups.
Hanoverian horses are known to be strong, robust, and trainable, and are well-known sport horses.
The RCMP horse breeding program has a reputation for producing some of the top Hanoverian horses in the world.
While not every horse they breed makes it onto the Musical Ride team, these horses are sought after for their dressage, show jumping, and other abilities.
Starting Monday (Sept 23), the RCMP will be hosting a horse auction that will last for ten days, where 5 young horses from their breeding program will be up for sale.
The auction will include three yearlings and two weanlings, and the bidding starts at $5,000.
The sale of these horses will help to fund the Musical Ride horse breeding program.
