The balloons are back, the balloons are back.
The 12th annual Heritage Inn International Balloon Festival arrives this Wednesday and runs until Sunday.
The five-day event brings pilots and balloons together from all around the world.
This year's theme is 'Celebrating Women of the Wind'.
Two local High River women pilots are Cathy Dudgeon and Jenn Podruski.
Dudgeon, whose balloon is called 'Marianne's Treat', is also a grade 7-12 teacher at Notre Dame Collegiate.
She says some students helped out last year and did a bang-up job.
"It takes a team of about four people to put the balloon together. Once it's launched, they drive after it. So, last year we have about 20 students come out to help in various roles and they did awesome."
Dudgeon loves flying because it's a great chance to leave your worries behind and just enjoy the beauty of the Foothills.
"It's very, very peaceful. It's wonderful to see landmarks from the air and then afterwards to be driving and say, 'I know what that looks like from the air; oh, that's what that is'. It's beautiful up there."
Over 20 pilots and their balloons are expected to lift off this year.
The first launch is this Wednesday at 5:30 p.m., weather pending, from the Macleod Trail launch site.
Then from Thursday until Sunday, you can expect balloons to be up around 7:30 a.m. and then around 5:15 p.m.
The exception is on Friday night for the Balloon Glow and there are no balloon flights on Sunday afternoon.
Friday night's Balloon Glow takes place again in Wallacevillle when Centre Street is closed as food trucks line the street and balloons fill up the field.
The Balloon Glow gets started at 5 p.m. with the balloons inflating not until about 30 minutes before dusk and it all shuts down around 9 p.m.
