The High River Flyers came away with a single point over the weekend due to an overtime loss to the Agra Risk Wheatland Kings but looked competitive even after a loss to start the season against the Carstar Okotoks Bisons.

On Friday, the Flyers opened the 2024-2025 HJHL season against the Bisons and fell short in a 5-3 hockey game. The Herd led the game 4-1 entering the third period, the Flyers made a game of it by scoring the first goal of the third period to cut the Bisons lead in half. Okotoks responded just over four minutes later to regain the three-goal lead, but the Flyers didn't go down without a fight and got their third goal of the game in the final minute.

Eastan Robert got the first goal for the Flyers in the brand-new season, with Tiernan Rowan and Cody Steinert adding goals in the game against the Bisons.

Issac Cayetano put the Flyers up by two with a late first-period goal with help from Rowan.
