A sweet new ride just found its forever home at Eamon's Garage.

On Monday (Sept. 23) a 1956 Oldsmobile Delta 88 was donated by Calgarians Rob and Shiela Innes.

Rob and Sheila Innes donated their 1956 Oldsmobile to Eamon's Garage.

The Innes family has kept the vehicle in the family since Rob's grandfather bought it new off the lot.

Rob's grandfather JB purchased the automatic car from Hanna Motors in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan and it's been in their family ever since.

JB's grandson even used it while attending the University of Saskatchewan in 1978 after a tune-up from shop students at Shaunavon High School.

The car itself travelled across Western Canada and even as far as a road trip to California.

The black and white classic car will find a new parking stall for it too, as the expansion of the historical building is almost complete.

President of the River City Classics & Eamon's Garage Historical Society, Ray Bouillet says it all came about earlier this summer.

"Back in July they had a look at the museum, saw our new addition in the back and he thought 'Oh, this would be a great place to have his car shown'.

Bouillet adds that the new addition is really close to being completed.

"So, this has been in the making for about three years. We started construction last November and at this point, I'd say we're about 97 per cent complete."

It was a real team effort to get this far thanks to a lot of volunteers, Integrity Builders putting up the shell, Shawnee Excavating helping with the in-floor heating, along with society member Lloyd Bruins helping with all the electrical work involved.

The new addition should house about six of seven vehicles once it's finished with another vehicle already waiting in the wings. Look not just for the '56 Oldsmobile soon but they're also currently restoring a 1964 Ford Galaxie 500.

Look for the classic cars at Eamon's Garage at the High River Ag grounds soon.
