Okotoks' own Peyton Krebs has officially signed a bridge deal with the Buffalo Sabres of the NHL.
The deal is worth $1.45 million annually over the next two seasons.
Krebs played minor hockey with the Rocky Mountain Raiders U15 AAA squad and posted eye-popping numbers his last year with the team. In the 2016-2017 season, he posted 102 points with 46 of them coming from goals in only 27 games.
Krebs would then go on to play a season with the UFA Bisons U18 AAA team based in Airdrie before moving on to the Kootenay Ice (now known as the Wenatchee Wild) of the WHL. Krebs spent parts of five seasons with the Ice and was the team's captain in Kootenay's last season before moving to Winnipeg where he would captain the team for the next two years.
He started his NHL career with the Vegas Golden Knights before being a part of a blockbuster trade that sent Jack Eichel and a third-round pick to the Golden Knights for Krebs, Alex Tuch, and a first-round pick which turned out to be Noah Ostlund to the Sabres.
Krebs has played two and a half seasons with Buffalo, playing in 202 games and accumulating 65 points with the Sabres.
With the Sabres not having reached the playoffs since the 2010-2011 season, Krebs and Buffalo will aim to end the drought as early as this season.
