Arts organizations are kicking off their fundraising campaign for a new performing arts centre with a gala presentation this Saturday night, September 28.
Arts Humboldt and OnStage Dance Festival welcome Ashley Borody with here Ultimate Tribute to Adele. The evening performance will open with a performance by Humboldt’s own Ray Whitton.
Brian Grest with Arts Humboldt talks about the featured entertainer.
“I’ve seen videos of her performances, and I’ve heard from a number of people who have been at her performances who say that it’s just amazing. It’s exactly like Adele. She’ll be performing with a backing band as well, so it will be the true Adele experience, as close as we can get in Humboldt.”
Since the demise of the Sutherland Theatre as part of the conversion of the old HCI location to the Public School, Humboldt has been hard pressed at times to provide a venue for performing arts. While multipurpose venues have provided homes for the performing arts, the hope is to once again establish a dedicated location better suited to hosting the wide range of music, dance and theatre the community boasts.
“Both Arts Humboldt and OnStage Dance Festival recognize that the lack of a performing arts facility in Humboldt has been a bit of a detriment to the arts community,” says Grest, “And we’re hoping to start some initiative to put some money away for a time when it’s possible that we can either start thinking about building one, or at least renovating one to create a better space in Humboldt.”
Tickets for the show are available at the Co-op C Store. For more details, email admin@onstagedancehumboldt.com.
