Plans to recognize the history of agricultural and manufacturing in our region have been given the green light from Humboldt city council.
At Monday's meeting, City Council approved a report from the Public Art Committee and the Museum that would see a sculpture of a horse created using metal pieces from manufacturing companies within the area.
The sculpture would be stationed near PAMI who is partnering on the project and will be celebrating their 50th anniversary in 2025.
With the approval, the search is now on to find artists to help design and create the sculpture.
The Public Art Committee will be accepting applications from artists until October 11. The committee is seeking artist or artist teams within Saskatchewan.
A selection process will begin in October, with a short list of artists announced at that time. In November, a concept for the project will be developed. An artist for the sculpture will be named in December.
Beginning in January, the design and fabrication of the sculpture will occur with the installation set for the spring.
If all go according to plans, the project would be finished sometime next summer with an official unveiling and public event.
