Rocky View Schools (RVS) has seen a slight decrease in enrolment throughout September.
Back in January, RVS submitted to the government their projected enrolment for this school year. According to the division, it's complicated to predict the enrolment growth but RVS predicted they would be at 29,350 students.
Back at the beginning of September, RVS enrolment was around the 29,300 mark. As of Tuesday, September 17, RVS enrolments were 29,221 students.
"It is critical to know the 2024/25 enrolment numbers will continue to fluctuate daily," RVS wrote to DiscoverAirdrie.
Final enrolment numbers will be presented to the Board of Trustees next week as the 2024-25 school year will have been underway for one month.
Airdrie continues to hold one of the largest student populations within Rocky View Schools.
Ward 6 Trustee Fiona Gilbert has been re-elected as Board Chair for the 2024/25 school year. Gilbert was first elected to the Board of Trustees in 2013 and is currently serving her third term.
The Board also chose Judi Hunter, Trustee from Ward 5, to serve as Vice-Chair again. Hunter, who was initially elected in 2017, is currently serving her second term as a Trustee.
Also, at the meeting, Board appointments to committees were made during the organizational meeting.
