It's Throwback Thursday - just a minute to remember the good ol' days.
Another one bit the dust earlier this month - another newspaper. The Herbert Herald, which served a number of Saskatchewan communities for 113 years, ceased operations. It's a sign of the times.
My first job in the media business was at the Moose Jaw Times-Herald. It folded years ago.
When I got into broadcasting, we relied on newspapers and other publications for some of the news and sports we'd deliver on the radio.
We subscribed to a number of them from daily newspapers to The Western Producer, The Hockey News and Rolling Stone Magazine. We even got The National Enquirer and The National Examiner for a time to get the latest from the entertainment industry.
It's interesting to note, some of the publications I've mentioned still exist. We can still buy a newspaper and the periodicals on the magazine racks and many of them are keeping up with the times by offering their products online.
We've got everything at our fingertips now and it's good - very convenient.
But, you know, every now and then, I buy a newspaper and read the sports pages and the comics, just like I did when we were young.
