Weyburn Comprehensive School is gearing up for its highly anticipated Fowl Supper, which will be held on Thursday, October 17, from 5 to 7 p.m.
The event will take place at the Cugnet Centre and will include a delicious turkey dinner and live musical performances from the school's band and choir.
The school's cosmetology teacher, Leah Beam emphasized the event's importance.
"People will purchase their tickets at the door. They are $20 a ticket for adults, and ages 6-plus are $10 for students," Beam explained. "They can have a wonderful meal, and the McKenna Hall is cooking the turkeys again for us this year."
The Fowl Supper is a significant community event and a major school fundraiser. The proceeds support various student activities and programs.
"The proceeds go into a global fund, and it helps all of the students at the WCS," Beam said. "They use the funds for different events, maybe helping out a student or bringing in extracurricular speakers."
Beam also highlighted the event's community spirit, with many extracurricular teams contributing.
"We have lots of help, and we all just put in together. The extracurricular teams for the fall bring all of the items that go with the turkey," she said.
For those unable to attend in person, note that there may still be people harvesting and understand if they cannot come from the 5 to 7 time slot, this year's event will offer takeout options.
Additionally, community cards will be on sale during the supper. Beam notes, what a great addition they are.
"Those are $20 per card, and they just get you discounts at the businesses within the community."
The Fowl Supper remains a cherished tradition for Weyburn Comprehensive School. It brings together students, staff, and community members for an evening of good food, entertainment, and fundraising.
