Every day the team at Golden West and PembinaValleyOnline comes into the office with the goal of "Connecting Communities". Alongside that, our team gives back in various ways through volunteer work and fundraising for organizations and non-profits important to our family, friends and neighbours.
Since January, the staff at CFAM Radio 950 in Altona have been holding a weekly staff fundraiser, with the goal of selecting a couple of local charities to donate to at the conclusion of the effort. Over the past nine months, the team was able to raise $900, and last week selected the Rhineland Empty Stocking Fund and Curtis Klassen Memorial Fund (CKMF) as the recipients, each receiving $450.
"This unexpected act of kindness is a reminder of the power of community, and how a small gesture can make a big difference," said CKMF board member Eric Hildebrand. "
This donation will go towards supporting local youth in need and keeping Curtis' legacy alive. We are inspired by the Golden West team, and their dedication to making a positive impact in our community. This serves as a reminder to all of us to spread love and kindness wherever we go. You never know how much of an impact it can make."
Ang Dueck accepted the donation on behalf of the Rhineland Empty Stocking Fund.
"On behalf of the Empty Stocking Fund, thank you for the generous and unexpected gift," she said. "We really appreciate it."
The Curtis Klassen Memorial Fund supports youth related sports initiatives in the Altona area. The Rhineland Empty Stocking Fund provides Christmas hampers to families in need in the Altona and Rhineland area.
