It’s a quiet weekend for the Humboldt Broncos with one game on the schedule, as they host the Yorkton Terriers at the Elgar Petersen Arena on Friday night.
The Broncos walked away from the opening weekend of the regular season after a pair of victories against the Notre Dame Hounds.
Boris Kofman led Humboldt with three-point efforts in both contests and leads the Broncos in scoring after the opening weekend (1G-5A).
Even though the green and gold have played in two games this year, the team’s depth was evident against Notre Dame, with ten different players scoring during the opening weekend. Maddox Amaral, Tre Fouquette, and Kye Benoche each scored two goals.
The powerplay was clicking for the green and gold, leading the SJHL after going 5 for 13 with 38.5%.
Edouard Gauthier was in net for the Broncos in both wins, ending up with a 927 SV% in his first two games.
The Yorkton Terriers will head to Humboldt, also sporting a perfect 2-0 record, after they swept the Weyburn Red Wings. They picked up a 6-1 home ice win, before earning a 5-3 decision on the road.
Yorkton’s Jaron Desnoyers and Jeff Hammond are on top the SJHL’s leading scorers with eight points after the first two games of the 2024-25 campaign.
Coverage for tonight’s game begins at 6:45 on Bolt FM, with the opening faceoff at 7:00.
The two teams will meet once again in Yorkton next weekend, on Sunday October 6.
