On a beautiful afternoon, a couple dozen cars and trucks showed up to burn some rubber in High River.

You could smell burnt rubber for blocks and blocks, but the ever-shifting breeze cleared it up relatively quickly.

Hundreds of spectators lined the fenced-off area along Centre Street between 3rd and 7th Avenue.

Car enthusiasts loved some of the wide variety of vehicles that entered including a Station Wagon that got some of the crowd's loudest applause.

The Station Wagon made it out, but the driver had to open his door to get the smoke out and see where he was driving.

One vehicle even had nitrous oxide hooked up.

While it was slated to start at 1 p.m. it was delayed by almost an hour to ensure everything was safe for both the volunteers, the crowd and the drivers.

Many of the vehicles made multiple trips along the strip. It was set up so three vehicles spaced apart would be able to do burn outs at the same time.

It's all part of the River City Classics Show N' Shine weekend.

Another aspect of the show was the parts swap meet held out at the High River Ag grounds at the Call of the West Museum and Eamon's Garage.

The 3rd annual Brian Chipchase Sr. Memorial Show N' Shine takes over all of downtown High River along with George Lane Park tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
