Lifesaving World Championship silver medalists Oliver Johnson and Isaac Thibodeau provided teammates insight into representing the nation on the Gold Coast of Australia, Aug. 20 to Sept. 8.

On Sept. 27 a prep rally was held at the SLS Centre to celebrate their success on the world stage. With a team of 40 athletes, Canada finished 13th overall in the National Youth pool events.

The highlight for Team Canada was a silver medal in the Simulated Emergency Response Competition (SERC), achieved by the talented duo of Cochrane Water Ninjas’ Oliver Johnson and Isaac Thibodeau, alongside teammates, Yannick Morgans and Anna-Maria Skinder.

Canada also secured a bronze medal in the women's youth division.

The overall performance of Team Canada placed them on the higher end of the middle ground in placements across all divisions, including men’s, women’s, open, pool, and beach events.

Water Ninjas head coach Alexx Diep held a Q&A with the world medalists at the pep rally.

The pair have their eyes set on representing Canada in the next Commonwealth championship being hosted by Swansea, Wales from July 10 to 13. The team is expected to be announced next spring.
