Although officials initially noted that Orlen Upstream Canada owned the gas well, they clarified the information late Monday night.

"We were notified that the fire was not at an Orlen Upstream Canada well. Rocky View County is sorry for sharing that wrong piece of information," officials added.

They added that there is no present danger to area residents now. Shortly after 9 p.m., county officials emailed a statement to DiscoverAirdrie stating that they were told that the fire was reported to be under control, though it would be monitored overnight.
