Parts of Southern Alberta are going to be windy today (Oct 1), but Foothills County won't be too bad.

Environment and Climate Change Canada Meteorologist Stephen Berg says that Okotoks won't get a wind warning today.

"Generally, Okotoks area will be gusting to about 50, maybe 60 km/hr for this afternoon," Berg explains. "Stavely, kind of towards the southwest, had a gust of about 72 km/hr, but that's a bit of an outlier as it kind of becomes more gusty towards the southwest, especially at higher elevations."

Currently, Pincher Creek and the Crowsnest Pass have a wind warning, but the areas further north and east are expected to be calmer.

The Nakiska Ridgetop Weather Station is at about 2,500 metres and was receiving 133 km/hr gusts this morning.

Even though it is a windy day, Berg says the wind won't bring in any terrible weather.

"Not anticipating anything very anomalous. Today's temperature for Okotoks is a little above normal," Berg explains. "Highs of 22 or so. With the normal being 14 for the highs. But, the next two days or so look to be around normal with the lows in the single digits. That looks to be fairly inconspicuous. Nothing all that remarkable about that and temperatures start to rebound a bit into the low 20s or so for the highs from Friday onwards."
