The Town of High River Family and Community Support Services wants to help advance reconciliation.
They are looking for three community members to join a group dedicated to reconciliation through the Moose Hide Campaign.
This campaign focuses on helping to raise awareness about ending violence against children and women.
This group will play a role in planning and organizing events for their 2025 campaign.
Members of the campaign will get to participate in the "We Are Medicine" training offered by the campaign founders.
This free training will teach everyone how to contribute to ending violence, which can be brought back to the community.
The Moose Hide Campaign is a nationwide movement that began in B.C. as an Indigenous-led grassroots movement intended to engage men and boys to help end violence towards women and children.
Those who volunteer for this campaign can also expect to engage in acts of reconciliation as part of the campaign.
On top of this campaign, the Town of High River says there are other ways to help advance reconciliation.
That includes wearing an orange shirt and learning the history of Orange Shirt Day, being informed about Indigenous history and the residential school system and engaging in events within the community.
There will be events held on May 16, 2025, for the national Moose Hide Campaign.
Anyone interested in joining should reach out to arose@highriver.ca with a brief introduction and how you can contribute to reconciliation.
