Winnipeggers looking to purchase new art while donating to a great cause can do just that this weekend.

Grands 'n' More Winnipeg, which aims to raise awareness within the broader community about the desperate plight of African grandmothers and their orphaned grandchildren, will host its annual Art from the Attic event on Sunday at St. Vital Centre.

"The funds raised will all go to the Stephen Lewis Foundation’s Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign," said the organizers in a post on Facebook. "The Campaign supports grandmothers in 15 sub-Saharan African countries, all of whom have been affected by the AIDS pandemic in Africa. These grandmothers disproportionately absorbed the impact of AIDS as it swept through the continent, taking up parenting roles for their grandchildren, whose parents had died of AIDS."

The group says over 3,000 art pieces will be available at the sale, with many items priced under $50.

All the art pieces have been donated to the organization, with volunteers picking up donated art and cleaning each piece in preparation for the sale.

The one-day sale will happen on Sunday, October 6, 11 a.m.- 6 p.m. at St. Vital Centre.
