At their most recent meeting, a progress report on the 2022–2026 Strategic Plan was given to the Rocky View Schools (RVS) Board of Trustees. The report focused on professional development opportunities RVS presented to classroom staff and school administrators in 2023/24.
According to RVS, these development opportunities supported the division's inclusion and diversity guidelines and are intended to support instructional practice.
"Using evidence-based instructional practices and strategies, woven through multitiered systems of supports, student academic and social-emotional engagement is nurtured, often leading to greater academic achievement and success for all children and students," stated RVS's "The Brief".
Here are some goals for the 2024-25 school year that were presented to the trustees during the report:
- Continue robust mental health programming for students through classroom, whole school teaching, and programming across RVS, with a target on middle years mental health ( 10-14 years of age).
- The target for June 2025 - 85 per cent of Rocky View Schools implementing full Positive Behavioural Interventions and Supports (PBIS) at 80 per cent or higher as measured by the Tiered Fidelity Inventory (TFI) and utilizing with fidelity, Dossier Behaviour Data Tracking to guide decision-making, identify, predict, plan and prevent challenging behaviours, increase teacher self-efficacy.
- Prospective Learning Support Teachers - refined the series offerings to reflect current skills needed in the role; pilot a screening process to identify qualified candidates for 2025-2026.
- Professional Learning Offerings - continue to stay in front of emerging trends, research and RVS needs to identify, design and provide relevant, meaningful offerings for staff across RVS.
One of the objectives of RVS' multi-year Strategic Plan is to provide inclusive, safe, and supportive education that is focused on the needs of the students.
The Board authorized a multi-year strategy plan, including goals, objectives, and metrics, in December 2022 for the division by Board Policy 9.
According to RVS, the goals of the Strategic Plan are:
- Improving students’ learning.
- Strengthening their workforce.
- Bolstering their infrastructure.
- Connecting with their community.
Also at the latest meeting, an update on student enrolment was presented, As of Friday, September 27, RVS was at 29,256 students.
