A brand new event is looking to spotlight local singers, songwriters and musicians, all for free.
The Rural Sound Sessions is taking over the Sundre Community Centre this weekend (October 5 & 6) featuring live performances, free music workshops, and performance opportunities for members of surrounding communities, including Cochrane.
“Everything is absolutely free to attend and it's for singers, beginners singers, really people of all levels,” says organiser Emma Harding with Rockit Vocal Studios.
"Whether you've never sung a note in your life or you've been doing it for years, it's for everyone at every level.”
Harding has spent her career working with artists like the Hunter Brothers and platinum-selling Jess Moskaluke but she has noticed that it can be tough to get into the industry if you live outside a major city.
“I wanted to make sure that like high-level coaching is accessible to everyone who wants it. Not just for people to physically be able to attend, but also financially be able to attend some classes and learn some high-end stuff.”
“It’s for anyone who wants to explore music, they can see if it is something worth pursuing and learn the tools.”
