With the provincial election coming up at the end of October, the Weyburn Chamber of Commerce will be providing a forum for the candidates in the Weyburn-Bengough riding to answer questions from the Chamber, as well as the general public.
“The Chamber’s purpose in providing this forum is to facilitate a respectful dialogue between candidates,” explained Monica Osborn. She is the executive director of the Weyburn Chamber of Commerce. “This is not considered an atmosphere for debate. Candidates will not be given an opportunity to debate issues with their fellow candidates. They will simply be responding to the questions posed to them within a given time frame.”
Osborn added that the questions posed by the Chamber will focus on things that will impact the business community, such as infrastructure funding, taxation, and regulation. The general public, however, will have the opportunity to ask questions of the candidates.
The All-Candidate Forum will be held on Wednesday, October 9th, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the auditorium of the Weyburn Legion. The general public is invited to come to take in the event. The public can also submit questions for the candidates via email at manager@weyburnchamber.com by Monday, October 7th at 4:30 p.m.
