Hendrik Bösch, of Wildlife Coexistence Cochrane, has been picking fruit on local trees to mitigate human-wildlife conflict. He's been at the lagoon on collection days providing information on the new group working in conjunction with the Cochrane Environmental Action Committee. (photo supplied)

It's a two-fold community-driven initiative that aims to mitigate human-wildlife conflicts in the community, particularly bears while utilizing the harvest in two ways.

Picked fruit will be given to local food providers and fallen fruit will be given to the Cochrane Ecological Institute (CEI) to feed injured and orphaned wildlife.

Mushy fruit won't be accepted and is best disposed of in household green bins or your compost
