A letter sent to the parents of George McDougall High School students reassured them that the Hold and Secure protocol was due to a medical incident.

According to the letter, an ambulance was called to the local high school in the morning to assist a student experiencing a medical emergency.

Hold and Secure restricted access to hallways and the front entrance to allow paramedics to work without interruption.

Principal Scott Bloxham stated in the letter that no further details about the incident would be released to protect the student’s privacy.

He acknowledged the potential emotional impact on other students and reassured families that school-based support services are available.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to contact the school office if their child needs assistance.

"We appreciate your understanding during this time," Bloxham said in the letter.
