Cochrane hockey players Leif Oaten, Jensen Marsh, and Matthew Hilderman will be lacing up for Alberta in the WHL Cup in Red Deer from Oct. 23 to 27.
Both the team roster and U16 schedule were announced this week by the WHL.
All three of the Cochrane players were selected in the spring WHL prospective draft. Forward Hilderman was picked by the Seattle Thunderbirds (23 overall), right winger Jensen Marsh by the Edmonton Oil Kings (27th overall), and goalie Leif Oaten (58th overall).
Besides Cochrane, the 20-player roster includes players from Calgary, Edmonton, Blackfalds, Sherwood Park, St. Albert, Sturgeon County, Airdrie, Rocky View County, Fort McMurray, and Olds.
Previously shortlisted for the team from Cochrane were Kale McCann and Daniel Vaillant, also WHL draft picks.

The 2024 WHL Cup will showcase the top 2009-born players from British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. It was established in 2009 and is held every year other than when the Canada Winter Games are contested.
It's the first step in Hockey Canada’s Program of Excellence for players.
All games are being played at the Peavey Mart Centrium, home of the WHL’s Red Deer Rebels. Alberta plays Saskatchewan in their opening game on Oct. 23.
