Fireside School principal Dave Banderk has assured parents appropriate action was taken when a student was seen bearing a small utility knife at recess this morning (Oct. 4).
He says staff took immediate action.
"We have spoken with all the students we believe were involved and are connecting with all their parents/guardians," states the letter to parents. "If your child needs support and/or if we have not been able to connect with you and your child was impacted, please let me know."
He assures parents all threatening actions are taken seriously and investigated immediately. There are divisional and school-based processes and supports in place to keep students safe.
"We always err on the side of caution and inform families as quickly as possible. To protect the privacy of all our students I am unable to share any further details but want you to be aware we are addressing this situation. Thank you for your understanding."
