The popularity of the annual free youth basketball clinic has seen a second two-hour session added this year.
Sunday Hoops, Fil-Can Hoops and Beyond Cochrane, the Filipino Canadian Association of Cochrane Alberta, and Tams Basketball have combined forces to offer the clinic at the SLS Centre for all interested youth ages 7 to 16 on Oct. 12 and 13 from 9 to 11 a.m.
"It's a great opportunity for kids like to learn the sport," says organizer Mike Bautista.
It includes training in passing, stationary shots, ball handling and fundamentals of the sport.

The clinic will be lead by Andy De Guzman is a former professional all-star player and university coach in the Philippines. He's now based out of Calgary and coaches with Tams Basketball.
Registration is now open and already over 20 youth have registered, says Bautista. They anticipate 40 to 50 youth will be participating and recommend youth register in the advance to save time the mornings of the clinic and to avoid disappointment should all spots be filled.
Participants are asked to bring their own basketball.
Parents are asked to bring a nonperishable food donation for the local food bank.
"This way, youth will be encouraged to give back to the community at an early age," explains Bautista.
