The Weyburn Concert Series will begin a new season with a performance on Wednesday by acclaimed country music star George Canyon, a multiple award-winner, earning accolades such as Junos, CCMAs, and ECMAs.
"I think George Canyon originally hails from Nova Scotia, so I mean he'll have roots in this country just like the rest of us have, and he will have played at little places like Weyburn in his music career, and I think it's just freaking exciting to have somebody that's that big a name in our community," shared Linda Aitken with the Concert Series.
The season will continue later this month with The Wardens on October 24th, Prairie Sons on November 27th, followed by a live musical documentary 'Becoming the Beatles' on February 18th, a theatrical experience dubbed as 'the funniest show about depression', entitled, 'Every Brilliant Thing' on March 31st, and finishes off on May 8th with renowned Canadian Country Music artist, Lisa Brokop headlining the show ‘The Patsy Cline Project & Hank Lives.’ Joining her on stage is Paul Jefferson, an accomplished songwriter who has written for various artists including Aaron Tippin, and Keith Urban.
She said they book such high-calibre performances through the provincial organization, OSAC.
"That's organizing arts for all of Saskatchewan, and that organization does a lot of negotiations with managements for all of the things that we bring in and it does it for all members who are all over Saskatchewan. So they do a lot of work for us and we do a lot of work with them and it's a really good relationship."
Advance tickets can be purchased for $45 for adults and $20 for children, or at the door for $50 for adults and $25 for children.
