An estimated 200 Earpers—fans of the popular TV show Wynonna Earp—descended upon Didsbury last week as part of the Earptopia Convention.
On Thursday, dubbed Didsbury Day, convention-goers from across the globe participated in a scavenger hunt-style tour of the town's main filming spots. They viewed some of Wynonna Earp’s most recognizable props.
The show, which aired from 2016 to 2021 and had a Tubi Original released in 2024, follows Wynonna Earp as she returns to her hometown of Purgatory to fulfill her destiny as a demon protector.
"Anytime you can welcome 200 visitors into our community; we're just very excited about that, and it's a huge presence of people who love to be in Didsbury," said Town Mayor Rhonda Hunter. "It was so heartwarming and just wonderful to hear everybody talk about how great our community was, how friendly we are, how they love the opportunity to see all the Earp props and all the Earp locations."
But fans aren't entirely done with Didsbury yet. Today, those who could not come last week are welcomed, but the town's Mayor is happy to continue welcoming the fans.

"To just meet them and listen to them talk about our community, and they just praise the community repeatedly and how beautiful it was," she added. "They just can't say enough about our community, and it blows me away, and I'm so humbled and proud."
Mayor Hunter underlined that fans flocking to the town are also part of a more comprehensive success strategy for the town and the region.
"It's just so fantastic to be discovered by Hollywood and our Canadian film industry and to be the go-to place; location scouts are here a lot," Mayor Hunter said. "It means a lot to our community. It's not all about filming, but filming is a huge part of our community, which is very special. We're always proud to welcome anyone and everyone wanting to film here and show off our beautiful town."
But what about the Mayor herself? Would she classify herself in any of the fandoms? She may not be an Earper, but she is still a fan of a very Canadian series.
"I'm a huge fan of Schitt's Creek - I do stick with the Canadian series!"
