High River RCMP have recently charged the owner of a dog daycare with firearms and animal neglect offences.

On September 3, the High River RCMP were called to The Dawg Father Daycare and Boarding.

While they were there, officers found evidence of weapons offences in plain sight, which led to one male being arrested on the scene and a search warrant being issued.

During their search of the property, officers also found there were animals on the property that were not being suitably cared for.

As a result, 38-year-old Foothills County resident and owner of The Dawg Father Daycare and Boarding, Justin Stenabaugh, was charged with several offences, which include:

  • Possession of a restricted firearm at an unauthorized place.
  • Possession of a restricted firearm at an unauthorized place
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited device (x4)
  • Careless use of a prohibited device (x2)
  • Unsafe storage of a firearm (x2)
  • Animal neglect

Stenabaugh has been released from custody and will appear in the Alberta Court of Justice on November 1, 2024.
