The 2024 World Mixed Curling Championship gets underway from Aberdeen, Scotland on Saturday and Canada will be represented by Shaun Meachem, Kelly Schafer and Chris and Teejay Haichert from the Swift Current Curling Club.
Canada has won the most the most World Mixed Championship medals with three gold, one silver and one bronze medal, including three straight gold medals from 2018-2022.
This event marks the second time that Chris and Teejay will compete at the World Mixed, having made the quarterfinals with Max Kirkpatrick and Jolene Campbell in the inaugural event back in 2015.
Sweden are the defending champions, winning last year's gold medal game 8-2 over Spain with Canada finishing third.
There are 39 teams at the event drawn into five groups based on their world mixed team rankings. Canada is ranked #1 and are in a group with Czechia, England, Hungary, Latvia, New Zealand, the Philippines and Türkiye, who will face Canada in the opening draw of the tournament on Saturday morning at 1:00 a.m.
The top three teams from each group, plus the best-ranked fourth-place team based on Draw Shot Challenge average, will advance to the playoffs. The round of 16 and quarter-final games will be on October 18 and the semi-finals and medal games will be on October 19.
All sheets in each draw will be streamed live on the Curling Channel, which is World Curling's official streaming platform. An event pass is available to purchase for $9.99 in US dollars. You can also stay up to date on the results by clicking here.
