Last week was busy for Miss Rodeo Airdrie 2024 Kyla Lightfoot as she took in the 2025 Miss Rodeo Canada competition.

The event was held in Edmonton as the 50th annual Canadian Finals Rodeo was also taking place.

Lightfoot talked about the different components she was able to watch from the sideline during her time at the competition.

"I attended the public speaking, as well as the horsemanship and then the fashion show. Whether you win or you don't win, you go through all of these experiences, and you learn a lot; if you're lucky enough and fortunate enough to be crowned Miss Rodeo Canada, then the entire next year of your life is, is going to be set on the road, travelling and representing the Canadian Professional Rodeo Association."

According to Lightfoot, she was unable to participate in the event this year as she needed to hold her Airdrie crown for at least a year. She is still deciding if she would like to participate in the title next year.

"Even though I did not participate in the event this year, just being up there, representing Airdrie and cheering on the girls was lots of fun."

Lightfoot went on to talk about what she has been up to over the summer with her Miss Rodeo Airdrie title.

"This summer was filled with mostly rodeos and a few community events. Iv travelled up to Grand Prairie, Okotoks and other surrounding rodeos."

Lightfoot is looking forward to more community events, with the rodeo season now behind us.

"I know there's the Santa Claus Parade and a couple of others that I will be attending, some with the Airdrie Food Bank."

Miss Rodeo Canada 2025 was won by Codi Wilson, who also holds the crown for Miss Rodeo Edmonton.
