The Carstar Okotoks Bisons continue to stampede through their opponents, having strung together four wins in a row after coming away with two wins on the weekend.
The Herd started their first road trip of the season when they headed to Didsbury to take on the Mountainview Colts on Friday (Oct. 4).
They exploded with goals taking the game 7-4. Sam Callahan had himself a night scoring a hat trick in the game and opening the scoring for Okotoks in the first period. Corban Rae of the Colts tied the game up at 1-1 in the first but the Bisons stormed back with four unanswered goals.
Zephyr Laplante got the helper on Callhan's first goal of the night.
Jacob Semeniuk scored the tie-breaking goal in the first with help from McCallum Bakken.
Ty Russell got the final goal of the first period and it came unassisted. Laplante got the first goal in the second period with Caden Scott and Semeniuk picking up points with assists. Adam Kirkpatrick scored the fifth goal for the Herd with Trevor Bonham getting the helper.
The Colts made it a one-goal game after scoring three unanswered goals in the third period, but Callahan would put it out of reach with two goals in the third frame to complete the hat trick and give the Bisons their fourth win on the season. Laplante picked up another assist and Jady Shigehiro picked up his first point on the night with an apple.
Dylan Walker made 21 saves in the winning effort.
The Bisons then travelled to Ponoka to face the Stampeders on Saturday. The Herd came away with a 5-0 win and Nicholas Smith picked up his first shutout of the 2024-2025 season with 19 saves.
Laplante opened the scoring late in the first period with Semeniuk and Ellis McGeough getting assists. Kirkpatrick added a goal two minutes later in the first to go up 2-0 on the Stampeders.
Bonham and Easton Dean added points on the play. Scott then scored his first goal of the season merely 20 seconds later with Shigehiro and Bonham grabbing the apples.
Kirkpatrick wasn't done as he scored his second goal of the game and his fourth of the season in the second period.
Captain Jake Snashall would pick up a point with an assist. Rusell got the final goal for the Herd with just under 14 minutes played in the third period. Semeniuk picked up another point on the assist.
The Bisons will head back home for their game scheduled for Friday (Oct. 11) when the Agra Risk Wheatland Kings head to Murray Arena for an 8:00 p.m. tilt. The Herd will then travel to Red Deer to face off against the Vipers on Saturday.
