This week's Airdrie Techmation Thunder Spotlight belongs to Calan Blondeau and local sponsors. Blondeau was named player of the game while Head Coach and General Manager Mark Kulynych also wanted to thank the local sponsors.
Friday's game against High River was a special one for the Thunder as they also hosted "Rock the Rink" where they had live music from the Ashley Garrett Band.
Kulynych wrote that special thanks are needed for the sponsors who helped make last Friday the day that it was.
"Spotlight of the weekend was the sponsors that all donated to our raffle we are truly thankful for the generosity that everyone showed. We received so many donations that we will be having another raffle on November 8th."
A win from the Thunder also helped make the night as special as possible as they knocked off the High River Flyers 4-2 and improved their record on the young season to 3-2.
"The player of the game is Calan Blondeau. He has been awesome since he came back from Injury, he has worked extra hard to get back and has made a huge impact on the group. He had a sweet goal on Friday that helped us seal the deal. But his work ethic has stood out to the coaching staff, we are happy to have him back and healthy!"
On the season Blondeau has two goals and one assist in three games played. He is excited for the season to now be in full swing.
"There's a lot more to come, but I think we are doing pretty well and hanging in there."
Blondeau hopes the team can be competitive for the whole season while having high hopes to make the playoffs and seeing what can be done from there.
"There are a few boys on the team that are in their last year, so hopefully we can do it for them."
Next up on the schedule is a home game tomorrow night, 8 p.m. at the Ron Ebbesen Arena against the Red Deer Vipers before heading on the road Saturday to take on the Mountainview Colts.
