A strike that would have seen hundreds of health-care support workers hit the picket line Tuesday morning, has been postponed.
Just before 4:30 a.m., the CUPE and MGEU bargaining teams reached a tentative agreement which they say will see significant improvements, therefore postponing the strike.
The unions say they will contact union members with details of the agreement and when they can vote.
They will also arrange info sessions over the next few days leading up to the vote.
"Thank you to all members for your support, strength, and solidarity throughout this process," said CUPE Local 204 in a post on Facebook. "There are *no* picket shifts today."
The unions were fighting for better wages and working conditions for their members, which they say they have achieved in their tentative agreement.
