A solar crosswalk in Nanton has recently been vandalized.
The Town of Nanton shared the news on its Facebook page on Tuesday afternoon (Oct. 8).
A witness saw someone cutting the cable of the crosswalk light on the west side of the rec centre and then discarding the lights onto the grass.
The crosswalk is located across from the Tom Hornecker Recreation Centre.
In the post, the Town stressed that the lights are intended to keep people safe when crossing The lights play an important role in keeping adults and children safe while crossing the highway, underlining the senselessness of the act.
If anyone witnessed the vandalism, has information on the person responsible, or has concerns regarding solutions for the pedestrian lighting, reach out to the Town of Nanton office.
"Let’s work together to keep our community safe and maintain our shared spaces," the Town's post reads.
