The 49th edition of the Saskatchewan Kinsmen/Kinettes TeleMiracle telethon is scheduled for this upcoming March 1st and 2nd, and executive director Daniko Dinko said she is excited to see all the auditions from talented performers across the province.

“Auditions will be in Regina at the Local Market — deadline to apply is October 16,” Dinko explained. “Auditions in Saskatoon will be October 26 at Station 20 West, and the deadline to apply for those is October 23. And, as always, you can do a video submission instead of doing a live audition, and those will be accepted until October 31 at our website, telemiracle.com.

“We always love our talented singing acts and dancing acts, but we’re definitely looking for more different and unique (acts, too.) Maybe you do magic tricks or you’ve just mastered a new gymnastics routine. Do you know how to use a unicycle? All of those we would so love to see. Maybe you can dance with fire or you’re a master skateboarder.

“You can contact our email at sasktalent@telemiracle.com if you have any questions or if you’re not sure if your talent will fit well.”

The annual TeleMiracle telethon raises money for the Kinsmen Foundation. The funds are used within Saskatchewan for specialized medical equipment, granting individuals and groups with special needs the mobility and freedom to live their lives richly.

Equipment the Foundation funds includes ceiling track system for group and individual homes, specialized and motorized wheelchairs, electric scooters, and vehicle conversions. The Kinsmen also helps with travel needs, such as the cost of transportation, meals, and accomodations when families need care far from home.

Last year’s TeleMiracle 48, featuring 75 Saskatchewan performers, raised over $6 million. Since 1977, the telethon has raised more than $165 million total.

This will be Dinko’s first event as executive director.

“I’m excited,” she said. “I can’t wait to see the behind-the-scenes and watch all the volunteers do what they do best, meet all the Sask talent, see some of our testimonials and our recipients and, of course, our special on-air presentations are always great.”
