Greg Luterbach, the superintendent of Rocky View Schools (RVS), will retire on August 31, 2025. The RVS Board of Trustees made the announcement today.

“The Board is grateful to Superintendent Luterbach for his leadership over the last 8+ years as we transformed and grew into a school division supporting nearly 30,000 students,” said Board Chair Fiona Gilbert. “His visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to student achievement, coupled with high integrity and a caring demeanour, have created a lasting positive impact and contributed greatly to the success of RVS.”

Since re-joining RVS in 2016, Superintendent Luterbach has led the division’s growing team of over 3,000 staff, maintaining a steadfast focus on providing the best possible learning experience for RVS students, stated an RVS press release.

“It has been an honour and privilege to be a part of the RVS team,” said Superintendent Luterbach. “I have had the opportunity to work with exceptionally talented, passionate and dedicated people giving it their all every day to help our students succeed.”

According to RVS, Superintendent Luterbach has made numerous contributions to the division, but one of his most well-known achievements is encouraging staff and students to value creativity in teaching and learning methods that spark students' interests and get them ready for the future.

“We applaud the 34 years Greg has invested in students’ futures and we are fortunate he chose RVS as the place to complete his career. As a Board, it has been a privilege to work alongside Greg as we navigated challenges, embraced opportunities, and celebrated successes together while always putting students first,” said Chair Gilbert. “There are no words to effectively express our respect and appreciation for Greg and we wish him all the best in his retirement.”

In order to facilitate a seamless transition, Superintendent Luterbach will keep working closely with his team and the Board. He also intends to keep pushing the division's objectives so that everyone gets the education they deserve, feels like they belong, and achieves success.

When the Board starts the official hiring process for a new Superintendent of Schools, more details will be released, explained RVS.
